Spring of Life

Habitat for Humanity International is a non-profit ecumenical housing ministry that seeks to eliminate poverty housing worldwide.  Spring of Life is a partnership of 12 churches in Arlington Heights, Hoffman Estates, Mt. Prospect and Palatine that has participated in this effort since 1997 by building affordable housing in suburbs northwest of Chicago.

Spring of Life works through the Northern Fox Valley Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.  The Affiliate builds homes in conjunction with other partnerships similar to ours, as well as corporate sponsors and community volunteers.  Since 1990 the Affiliate has supervised construction of 40 homes in Carpentersville, Elgin, South Elgin, and St. Charles.

About Us

Spring of Life is a partnership of 12 churches in Chicago’s northwest suburbs that builds affordable housing under the auspices of the Northern Fox Valley Affiliate of Habitat for Humanity International.  Although the partnership is committed to providing the volunteers and money required to complete each house it starts, we welcome community support and volunteers of all faiths—or no faith—who actively embrace Habitat’s goals of eliminating housing poverty.

This 50’ x 152’ lot in south Elgin is the site for the Spring of Life Partnership’s next build—our sixth house. The Steering Committee is reviewing the architect’s proposal for a modest 1,515 ft.2, three-bedroom home with a living room, dining room and kitchen and detached garage. Prairie School design elements—a low hipped roof with broad, over-hanging eaves—will help the new house fit into the neighborhood. While we await selection of our homeowner-partner, Spring of Life is moving forward to secure building permits and prepare for a spring groundbreaking and the start of construction. Contact your Steering Committee member to find out how you can help with some pre-construction projects. Community volunteers click here to learn how you can help us build this house.
